GBT2023_St Annes Winner_Paul Armsrong

For our forth event, we visited St Annes Old Links Golf Club, in Lytham. Thank you to everyone who joined us. Congratulations to the winners!

Winner:  Paul Armstrong (Armstrong Interiors) – 35Pts

A very strong round of golf by Paul, considering the conditions.
He came very close for a top four finish in the OOM a couple of years back, so I am sure he will be pushing all the way this year.

Congratulations and well played Paul!

Runner-Up: Mat Watts (MB Promo) – 35 Pts

Ground hog day for Matt, runner up twice in the last two events. Both times beaten by a better back nine.

I’m sure we will see the serial winner back on top very soon.

Well Played and Congratulations, Matt!

Third Place: Mike Pich (The Layout Pad) – 34Pts

Another podium finish at St Annes for the 2022 GBT Champion. Just 14 pts short of last year’s amazing total.

Lets just blame the wind!

Guest Winner: Luke Dixon – 33 Pts

A solid score for Luke. Hopefully we will see more of him this season.

Well Played Luke

GBT2023_St Annes_Score Sheet

St Annes Old Links has been used for several professional championships, including last years final qualifying for The British Open.

Although we were blessed with dry, partly cloudy skies, the wind was not on our side. With 30MPH gusts, it certainly set a challenge for our players.

Despite the fact that the course is flat, and some might say, stark, with nothing more than a handful of trees scattered around, it certainly held our players attention.

The toughest hole on the course had to be St Annes’ signature hole: the 9th. Where the stunning green is barely visible from the tee.

All in all, St Annes is a true test of your game, and with its high winds, it will challenge the strongest of golfers!

Here are some scoring stats for the day:

  • Highest score 35pts

  • Lowest score 18pts

  • Average 28.5pts

  • NO player broke Par!

  • Hardest Hole 9th  – Par 3 – 154 yds – stroke 17

  • 0 birdies, 7 par’s, 16 bogeys, 13 D bogies & 8 worse.

Our next GBT event will be at Pleasingtong Golf Club on Wednesday 17th May. There are only a couple of spots left If you haven’t already booked on yet, head on over to our event page.
