Description

Pleasington Golf Course has hosted In the last 15 years many prestigious Championships and events such as Regional Qualifying for The Open, The Brabazon Trophy (North Qualifying), European Senior Ladies Team Championships, England Golf Ladies County Finals and more. The course architect is our very own GBT Founder Member Ken Moodie, he was appointed in 2017 to consider potential changes to the course design and layout. This has led to a number of changes and updates to the course with the largest of them was renovate holes 7,8, and 9 and we look forward to seeing these developments in 2023 season.

Originally designed by George Lowe Snr and later extended by Sandy Herd, the layout offers the golfer a unique challenge with a wonderful variety of holes across different elevations. The course is set in a rare area of heathland which combines beautifully with some ancient woodlands, backing on to the famed Hoghton Tower where the “Sirloin” was created when King James I of England knighted the loin of beef. The course is lucky to be based mainly on sand, with excellent drainage, and fabulous greens.

Results Summary:

Winner: Steve Critchley, who secured an impressive victory with a remarkable score of 39 points.
Runner Up: Simon Whittle, who showcased his skills and finished strong with an excellent score of 38 points.
Third Place: Mike Pich demonstrated his talent and secured the third-place position with a commendable score of 37 points.
Additional winners include:
Guest Winner: Graham Roche, who demonstrated exceptional skill and achieved a score of 38 points.
Ladies Prize Winner: Karen Payne, who delivered an outstanding performance and earned the Ladies Prize with a well-deserved score of 32 points.
A special mention goes out to the nearest the pin winners, who displayed their precision on specific holes:
