Description
We are thrilled to announce that Bury Golf Club is joining the prestigious GBT 2025 Tour! Known as one of the best moorland courses in the Manchester area, this historic venue combines timeless design with over a century of golfing excellence.
Founded in 1920 and masterfully designed by the legendary Alister MacKenzie, Bury Golf Club features an 18-hole, 6,063-yard semi-moorland course that provides a memorable test for golfers of all abilities. MacKenzie’s influence shines through in every aspect of the layout, particularly in the three standout holes showcasing his signature two-tier greens. The course’s natural beauty and thoughtful design make it a joy to play in any season.
The club’s rich history is also tied to Harry Vardon, a six-time Open Champion who served as Bury’s professional from 1902. Vardon’s legacy is deeply ingrained in the club’s culture, from the naming of the main function room in his honour to the annual Vardon Trophy open competition, which attracts top golfers from across the region.
Beyond the course, Bury Golf Club offers excellent facilities for players and visitors alike. The clubhouse provides a welcoming atmosphere with a range of dining and function spaces, making it an ideal venue for social and corporate events. The combination of top-tier hospitality and a beautifully maintained course ensures a memorable experience for all.
As part of the GBT 2025 Tour, Bury Golf Club invites golfers to experience its unique blend of history, challenge, and camaraderie. Whether you’re navigating the rolling fairways or tackling the iconic MacKenzie greens, every round promises to be an unforgettable journey through one of Manchester’s most esteemed golf courses.
