GBT2025 Tour Final: Preparation Day 1
The prestigious GBT2025 Tour Final at Dundonald Links the showdown of the year!
The GBT2025 Tour Final at Dundonald Links promised action, banter, and a bit of chaos—and boy, did it deliver.
Day 1 – The Practice Round & Caddie Draw
After another thrilling GBT season, the stage was set for the 11th GBT Tour Final at the magnificent Dundonald Links, Ayrshire. But before the finalists arrived, a few familiar faces had some unfinished business just up the road…
The Founders’ Prelude – Prestwick St Nicholas
On Sunday afternoon, the GBT Founders gathered at Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club, the 26th oldest golf club in the world, for a warm-up round steeped in golfing history and seaside charm.
Founded in 1851, Prestwick St Nicholas is a true gem of Scottish golf — a course where tradition meets challenge, with views stretching across the Firth of Clyde to Arran. The Founders took full advantage of the links in fine condition, plotting their way around with typical GBT competitiveness and plenty of banter.
And, as ever, there was money on the line. In what’s becoming an annual tradition, Mr Brown once again took the cash — carding an impressive 71 against a 74, much to the frustration (and amusement) of the others.
With that, the scene was set. The GBT Founders had refined the final touches to the GBT2025 finale, and it was time to head just 14 miles down the Ayrshire coast to the main event — Dundonald Links.
Arrival at Dundonald Links
Sunday evening brought the excitement to life as the finalists arrived at the Dundonald Links Lodges, greeted by the Tour Sponsors Teknobu — represented by Philip Palmer (Managing Director) and Gareth Hilton (Chairman of Teknobu & Johnsons 1871 Ltd) — along with the GBT team and friends of the Tour.
The evening’s atmosphere was electric. Among those arriving were Brian Boys, Matt Watts, Mike Birchall, Robin Raymond, Nearest the Pin Winner Steve Critchley, and GBT Founder Members Mark Ball and Dianne Brown (aka “the real boss” of GBT).
As the first drinks were poured and dinner enjoyed, the banter was already flying — Mr Critchley, never short of confidence, announced himself as the “best caddie in the business”. Naturally, this was met with raised eyebrows, knowing smiles, and a few wagers of its own.
The evening set the tone perfectly: laughter, strategy, and a few bold predictions over dinner — all ahead of Monday’s practice round and caddie draw, where the stage was officially set for an unforgettable final.
