GBT2025 Tour: The Final
The prestigious GBT2025 Tour Final at Dundonald Links the showdown of the year!
The GBT2025 Tour Final at Dundonald Links promised action, banter, and a bit of chaos—and boy, did it deliver.
After months of competition, camaraderie, and incredible golf, it all came down to this — Finals Day at Dundonald Links, where one player would be crowned GBT2025 Tour Champion.
The Perfect Start
The morning began bright and early in the stunning Dundonald Links clubhouse, with a hearty Scottish breakfast to fuel the finalists and their caddies.
Square sausage, haggis, poached eggs, and baked beans — a proper start to what would become an unforgettable day.
Following breakfast, the finalists headed to the practice ground to loosen up. Under the watchful eyes of their caddies, they worked through short game drills, bunker shots, and putting routines, fine-tuning every aspect of their game for the biggest round of the year.
The air was calm but electric — the kind of quiet tension only a GBT Final can produce.
The Grand Tee-Off
Gathering on the 1st tee, you could feel the nerves and excitement in equal measure. The starter, who many said was “the best we’ve had in 11 years of GBT Finals,” set the tone perfectly, while the Tour Official, Mr Brown, ensured everything ran smoothly, bibs in place and standards high.
Meanwhile, Dianne Brown was orchestrating the filming for the GBT2025 Final video — capturing every swing, smile, and sigh of the day.
Then, it was time.
First on the tee, the Tour Leader Brian Boys, with his caddie Tim Roberts, struck a beautiful drive down the right-hand side — calm, confident, composed.
Next, Matt Watts, with caddie Philip Palmer, unleashed a powerful drive straight down the middle — no doubt showing why many tipped him as the favourite (well, almost everyone — apart from one particularly confident caddie!).
Mike Birchall followed, nerves evident but still finding the right rough with his drive — in play, just.
And finally, the senior member of the group, Robin Raymond, produced an elegant drive down the left side, setting up a solid start.
The 2025 GBT Final was underway.
The Battle Unfolds
By the halfway house, the leaderboard was starting to take shape:
-
Brian Boys – 17 points
-
Matt Watts – 15 points
-
Robin Raymond – 13 points
-
Mike Birchall – 9 points
Boys looked steady, but the chasing pack was far from finished.
As the wind picked up and Dundonald began to bare its teeth, precision and patience became key.
By the 16th tee, Brian had extended his lead to five points over both Matt and Robin — but the pressure was mounting. The closing stretch at Dundonald is not for the faint-hearted.
On the 18th green, the drama peaked. Matt Watts had a 20-foot putt to square the match — and with the crowd (and caddies) holding their breath, it just slipped past.
It was that close.
With a steady hand and expert guidance from his caddie, Tim Roberts, Brian held his nerve to clinch his first-ever GBT Tour Championship title — by a single point.
The Presentation
The celebrations began immediately on the balcony of Dundonald Links, overlooking the course where champions are made.
Philip Palmer of Teknobu, GBT Tour Sponsor, presented the trophy to a beaming Brian Boys, who proudly thanked Mark and Dianne for another exceptional final and season, and paid tribute to his caddie, Tim Roberts:
“It got a bit squeaky bum time on the last green, but Tim kept me calm and guided me home. What a final — what a tour!”
The moment was pure GBT — laughter, applause, and a few emotional smiles as the sun dipped behind the Ayrshire dunes.
And it wasn’t just the trophy heading home with Boys and Roberts. The pair cleaned up the secret sweepstake too — with Tim being the only caddie to predict the correct finishing order.
A perfect day: a trophy, bragging rights, and a Tag watch — not bad for a weekend’s work!
Final Dinner & Reflections
The celebrations rolled on into the evening at Scott’s Troon — the same fantastic venue as last year. Superb food, excellent service, and an abundance of good humour made for the perfect finale to another unforgettable GBT season.
Mark Brown shared a few words, thanking all members, sponsors, and guests for their continued support and teasing a few new initiatives coming to the GBT2026 Tour, shaped by valuable member feedback.
