GBT2023 third event and a new venue for the GBT Tour, Fleetwood Golf Club another top 100 course, 6558 yards par 72, excellent links designed by James Steer in 1932 This is a definite must for keen golfers and for those willing to travel from inland courses. Fleetwood Golf Course is a traditional seaside links, the terrain is largely flat and entirely unprotected on the northwest corner of the Fylde playing the back 9 inside the front 9 and situated next to the sea, it offers a challenge with prevailing winds being a major factor on how the course plays from day to day. This was GBT’s first visit to Fleetwood Golf Club, and, although the course was slightly soggy in places, it was another great day of GBT golf! Nestled away in the North West corner of Fylde, Fleetwood is a links course where the golf is traditional and straight forward. There is only one blind tee-shot, but there are some well placed gorse bushes that protect most of the fairways and greens. A stiff early morning breeze and a smattering of sea spray saw our first players out on to the course. But before long the sun was beaming brightly in a brilliant blue sky. Playing into the strong sea breeze, three bunkers and out-of-bounds up the left-hand side of the fairway, the first hole turned out to be the most challenging of the day. Yet, the rest of the course also offered our players a great taste of a true tournament links course. All in all, everyone had a great day of tournament golf and networking opportunities. Here are some scoring stats for the day:
- Highest score 40pts
- Lowest score 13pts
- Average 31.2pts
- 13 players from 36 played to par or better

A super back-to-form win for Trevor. A quote from his playing partner, “He swings the club like a 25 year old. It’s beautiful.” (Franklin must be on the pay role.) Congratulations and well played Trevor!
Runner Up: Paul Povey (Brewin Dolphin) 40 Pts – A great round of golf for this seasoned GBT member and former tour finalist. Paul just missed out on top spot by a BB9. Well played and congratulations, Paul!
